  • Ashley Parr was chosen as the KCB STAFF OF THE WEEK!  Congrats Ashley and thank you all for continuing to reinforce our 8 character traits.
  • Kudos to ALL of our current compass staff members for assisting with MAP make-ups.  I know this was not an easy task and we all want you to know that we appreciated all of your efforts to assist with students who needed to complete or take a MAP assessment.
  • Thank you also to our special education aides and special education staff for assisting with testing needs for our special education students.  MAP make-ups will continue this week and I want to thank each and every one of you for allowing students to complete their MAP assessments!

Reminders
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
  • Starting Monday, October 3 - we will be calling students to the library who have yet to complete their MAP testing for MAP make-ups.  ISS teachers, we will be utilizing your assistance for all testing periods and will call students to the library by exam (example - all math makeups first).
    • We will continue doing this during ISS periods until all students have been tested.
    • Compass teachers you no longer need to assist with MAP testing as of Monday, October 3.
  • Tuesday, October 4 & October 5 - Mandt Training for those needing their initial training/certification.
  • Wednesday, October 5 - 7th grade field trip to the school forest is from 9:40 - 12:45 (this was moved from September 30 to October 5 due to weather).
  • Wednesday, October 5 - Google Document Literacy PLC time - in the library.
    • A reminder for these PLCs...
      • Every teacher needs to put their name next to the reading strategy you want to utilize in the next two weeks.  (Example:  Connections or Determining importance)
      • You then bring your text (text can be images, music, actual article, etc) with you and you can have your plan or be coming asking for assistance but with at least your strategy in mind.
      • All the people that signed up for connections (for example) will then be a group and discuss/share out in order to assist and collaborate with our colleagues to improve what we have, create something new, or discuss and tweak.
      • See Patti Tenhagen, Jenny Geyso, or Molly Ebbers with any questions.
  • Friday, October 7 - iTime on Friday has been changed to an Extended Advisory.  Danish students will be coming to talk with each of our advisories.  For those staff members here last year this is very similar to what they did with our students last school year.
  • Friday, October 7 - End of the MAP testing window.
  • Staff have been asking for information about Atomic Learning or Google Certification information.
    • Here are the links Scott provided all of us back in June.  You can choose to complete either all of the Atomic Learning short videos or the Google Certification.  One or the other needs to be completed by the end of the 2016-2017 school year.  Here are the links to both:

iTime groups in full effect!  Below is Ms. Jorgenson/Ms. Parr's math group in the cafeteria.

Ms. Berezowitz's ELA group and Ms. Tenhagen's ELA group.  I truly appreciate bringing all the students to the same table.  When working in small groups you should be pulling them together and sitting/working with them so thank you for that!  Other iTime groups I would suggest modeling this as well when working with smaller groups of students.

    Cross Country meet in Waterford!

I forgot to add these last week... Here is Matt and I in the bouncy velcro jumper... our outfit was velcro and we had to jump and try and stick to the wall... I was able to stick a few times... Matt tried and could stick when standing :)

Here are some of our Karcher students at the Homecoming Football game!

Video of the week:  When working with students in small group situations (or modeling with the whole class) here is one example of a strategy lesson to assist students with unknown vocabulary.
