Welcome New Staff and/or changes to staff!

As we move into the school year we are getting close to having all staffing finalized! We had two recent resignations within our special education aides and will be looking to fill those positions ASAP! Welcome new staff members to BASD! We are excited to have you join our team and I am not lying when I say you have joined one heck of a GREAT team here at Karcher!
New staff to our building and/or changes to positions:

Jon Nelson - New physical education/health teacher.
Kailee Longoria - New ELA teacher to Karcher. Kailee is not new to BASD as she was teaching at Dyer but her love for English has brought her to Karcher!
Eric Sulik - Not new to Karcher this school year but rather simply a change to what he will be teaching. Eric will be taking on our Computer courses along with some STEM classes.
Elizabeth (Liz) Deger - Liz will be assisting our orchestra program and Dustan with lessons.
Ryan Heft - Our new Dean of Students for both Karcher & Dyer.
Victoria (Vicky) Leuck - Not new to BASD but will be a new Karcher staff member serving as a special education aide.
Megan Ehlen - New special education aide.
Bonnie Crist - Can't get enough of Karcher and wanted to come back! She will be serving as a special education aide.
AND... we will have two student teachers with us for the fall semester from UW-Whitewater: Joshua Audenby and Ben Worland. They will be working with Stephanie Rummler and Jack Schmidt!
We still have three positions to fill: STEM teacher and two aides. They will be added once they are finalized!

Reminders

August 21 - New co-teaching team training @ BHS library from 8:00 - 2:00.

This training is for any new co-teaching teams throughout the school district. The training will take place with Peggy Black with time to collaborate and work on the first few weeks of your curriculum together. Don't forget to bring your own lunch in order to maximize the time!

August 22 - BLT Meeting

Building Leadership Team we will be meeting from 8:00 - 2:00 in the conference room off of the library. Connie will be meeting with new teachers in the library (just an FYI).
Eric Sulik will be joining our BLT team replacing Marilee Hoffman.

New teacher institute with Connie Zinnen will take place in our Karcher library from 8:00 - 3:00 on all three days.

Our student schedules will be turned on for parents/guardians/students to view after 2:00pm on August 25. We are pretty solid at this time when it comes to our schedules for students but want to double check student schedules to ensure it is as clean as we can get them!

We look forward to seeing everyone and hope you can all make it! Please RSVP with the number attending so I know how much meat to prepare!
Our pool with be open so bring your suits and your kids suits as well! Kids, spouses, friends, are invited to come with you.

You have a special education meeting from 8:00 - 11:30 in the Karcher Library.
I know the plan then is to roll into a Karcher special education meeting after the district meeting... time for this will depend on the end time for the district meeting.

Those of you who need MANDT recertification should attend the recert meeting in our Karcher library from 1:00 - 4:00. This would be all aides who did not just go through the full training on August 9-10 with Kathy Merlo.

PE staff will have a training for Polar GoFit from 12:30-4:00 at BHS (not sure where at BHS but ask Lois when you get there!)
The rest of the staff this time is set aside as "Curriculum Meeting" time. This time can be grade level meeting time, content time K-12 or 6-12 or whatever you would like to use this time for but it should be time given to you to align and work within a content area or curriculum area team.

Read 180 staff you will have Read 180 training in the 21st Century Lab here at Karcher from 8:00 - 4:00.
Karcher counselors:

JEDI Meeting from 12:30 - 1:30 in large conference room at BHS. All Karcher and BHS counselors and admin will attend. Will discuss the process for students interested in taking courses through JEDI. If we have students interested now we can contact JEDI prior to the meeting to set up courses for students.
Staff... JEDI is our new virtual school program for students (online education)

Coaches... if you are a coach in the district there will be a meeting at 7:00 in the BHS library with Eric Plitzuweit prior to our district inservice.
8:00 - 9:00ish - District wide staff inservice in BHS auditorium.
9:00 - 4:00 - Teacher work time within your classrooms.
6:30 - 7:30 - Karcher Open House!

Due to some shared staff between Karcher and Dyer we shifted some time to ensure those who are shared staff have the ability to attend both Dyer and Karcher's meetings. This is not required for shared staff to attend both but you have the option to attend both if you would like.
Karcher's schedule for August 31...

Special Education Aides: 8:00 - 4:00 workday, new special education hires 8:00 - 4:30 workday.

8:00 - 9:00 - meeting in the conference room - everyone will be getting their schedules, etc at this time.
9:00 - 12:30 - worktime and lunch
12:30 - 2:30 - All staff inservice in Karcher library.
2:30 - 4:00 - worktime.
3:00 - 4:00 - Health training @ BHS in the auditorium
***New hires 4:00 - 4:30 with Ruth Shenning, Business Manager in BHS auditorium.

8:00 - 10:00 - classroom work time.
10:00 - 11:30 - building level inservice in Karcher library.
11:30 - 12:30 - lunch
12:30 - 2:30 - building level inservice with ALL staff (aides please also attend this meeting)
2:30 - 4:00 - classroom work time.

Please note the modified schedule for the first two days of school. Our advisory team will be explaining and clarifying the first two weeks of school during our time together as a staff on August 31 between 12:30-2:30.
